The Limited Black Glencairn Glasses Sold Out — Here’s How to Still Get Them

Glassware is important. There are plenty of specialty whisky glasses, new and old, that enhance whisky drinking. The one thing I can tell you for certain, though, is the traditional whisky rock glass is great for drinking whisky on ice but terrible for drinking whisky neat. There’s too much surface tension, the rim is too thick, and it makes an already volatile drink harsher.

Tulip shaped glassware is the way to go. Glencairn is the original tulip shaped glass for whisky drinkers. When we had Raymond Davidson of Glenciarn on The Whisky Topic podcast, he explained the original idea behind the glass. For him, it was all about whisky shows. He was tired of drinking expensive whisky out of cheap rocks glass. He introduced the Glencairn glass, and it became the star of whisky shows.

Today, Glencairn glassware is everywhere. It’s the first glassware endorsed by the Scotch Whisky Association. It’s the glassware of choice for many whisky drinkers. I’ve even theorized that whisky competitions are won and lost based on the glassware used.

Which brings us to the limited edition Black Glencairn Glass. There are only 1,000 being made. They went on sale for Black Friday (Nov 29th, 2019). They sold out within hours. At the time of this posting, the item was taken off the store so that IT and sales could sort out who actually will get a glass. But if you haven’t purchased one, it’s okay! There are still ways to receive this unique offering.

Glencairn partnered with a few websites, including this one, to run a promotion for a chance to receive a pair go Black Glencairn Glasses. Here are all the ways to participate in the promotions for your chance to receive a pair. Participate in all of them for your best chance of winning.

In the meantime, do go to the Glencairn shop and enjoy the regular glassware you can still purchase!
