Aerolite Lyndsay Islay 10 Year Old - Throw The Cork Away and Drink (with friends)
/Aerolite Lyndsay Islay isn’t the name of a distillery. It’s a brand. But this is a single malt product; meaning it came from one distillery on Islay. That distillery remains a mystery.
There's a lot being said about authenticity and Islay scotches. I’ll leave that to the experts that live closer to the region. However, I will say that this product has been released by Atom Brands. They’re behind the cheeky Boutique-Y Company releases.
Boutique-Y Company is known for their funky one-of releases of scotches. They buy barrels of whisky on the open market, and turn them around with unique labels and interesting backstories. Plus those great labels.
Aerolite Lydnsay Islay is a departure for the company. Their goal is to produce drinkable whiskies that can remain on store shelves under one brand, at one proof-point.
It’s 70% ex-bourbon cask, 25% ex-sherry, and 5% mystery cask. It’s peated. But lightly.
Aerolite Lyndsay Islay 10 Year Old
Distillery: Islay Undisclosed
Category: Single malt scotch, Islay, Peated
Score: [for patrons]
Nose: Barley sweetness, freshly cut oak, lemon candy, vanilla, pear, and butter. Peated, but lightly, balanced with the sweetness.
Palate: Nice spice and lemon candied note, great vanilla sweetness, and some tannins and butteriness.
Conclusion: I’ll leave it to one of the great whisky writers of our time, Dave Broom:
Another great Islay dram to share during a drinking session. Glasses, friends, throw the cork away.
Disclaimer: A bottle of this product was provided to me by Atom Brands with no expectations of their being a review, and it had no baring on my review.
